HC Jim Montgomery makes his feelings known about David Pastrnak, $76,000,000 D-man's heroics in Boston Bruins' comeback victory
Boston Bruins coach Jim Montgomery shared his thoughts on David Pastrnak and Charlie McAvoy's heroics in the Bruins 3-2 comeback victory on Tuesday.
The Bruins defeated the Blues after rallying from a 2-0 deficit in the second period. When asked about the mood of the team while being down 2-0, the Bruins coach said:
"You learn through adversity, you know? Despite the fact we’re 4-1-1 now in our last 6. It doesn’t feel like it, right?”
“When you get a game like tonight, and you realize that if you stay in the moment, good things happen, believe in the process and we just worry about what’s next.”
After Morgan Geekie scored at 4:53 into the third period, Charlie McAvoy — who is signed to an eight-year, $76 million deal — played a crucial role in the comeback by scoring a one-timer from long range to tie the game 2-2.
Montogomery said he was impressed by McAvoy's first-shot mentality.
“Loved it. What a shot! If I could shoot like that … man, why wouldn’t you use it all the time, right?” he said.
McAvoy and David Pastrank's goals ultimately proved to be the game-changers, driving their comeback victory.
"(Charlie McAvoy and David Pastrnak) weren't gonna let us lose tonight. You could just see it. They stepped onto the ice with an elevated purpose in the third period." Montgomery added.
The Bruins improved their record to 8-7-2 after the win over the Blues. The club is five points off the Florida Panthers, the No. 1 team in the Atlantic Division.
