HC Spencer Carbery delivers scathing review of Washington Capitals' O-zone entries, hails rival Stars goaltender as "one of the best in the world"
Washington Capitals coach Spencer Carbery delivered a critical assessment of his team's offensive zone entries following their 3-1 loss to the rivals Dallas Stars on Monday.
The defeat marked the end of the Capitals' impressive 10-game winning streak away from home.
In his post-game remarks, Carbery expressed frustration with his team's inability to effectively enter the offensive zone, saying that their entries were poor and hindered their ability to set up plays.
"Entries were atrocious tonight. So you can't even get to the set. You can't even look. We're getting surprised by pressure caught behind the net, goalie mishandle, and one of them kills about 40 seconds. So our entries were nowhere near good enough tonight," Carbery said.
Carbery highlighted the performance of Stars' goaltender Jake Oettinger, calling him one of the best in the world, as he made several crucial saves that kept the Capitals' offense in check.
Oettinger finished the night with 25 and posted a .962 SV%.
"I thought Ottinger was the big one (difference)". We had some good looks. You got to give him credit. That's a world class goalie, and there's a reason why he's one of the best in the world," Carbery added.
The win for the Dallas Stars improved their record to 19-11-0 and 38 points after 30 games. The club currently sits third in the Central Division.
