"I love you": Madeline Gaudreau shares emotional note for husband Matthew and brother-in-law Johnny Gaudreau
Madeline Gaudreau shared a touching Instagram post honoring her husband Matthew and her brother-in-law, Johnny Gaudreau. The post included photos and videos of the brothers which showed how they both were full of life and were often involved in activities such as singing and enjoying together.
In her caption, Madeline wrote about the strong bond between Matthew and Johnny.
“It was always Matty & John. I can’t put into words their bond," Madeline wrote. "They were each other’s biggest cheerleaders. Matt looked up to John, in so many ways but the most important was the father he was to Noa & Johnny."
Madeline Gaudreau, who is expecting her first baby, Tripp, also talked about her comfort in knowing they are together and believes they continue to watch over their families.
"I know they are still messing with each other up there," she wrote.
Madeline extended support for Johnny Gaudreau's wife, Meredith.
“The boys couldn’t have picked stronger woman as their wives and mothers of their children. We will carry each other through every season .. as the boys would do for each other,” Madeline added.
Madeline ended her tribute with love for her family:
“I love you my handsome husband, I love you John, I love you Meredith, I love you Noa, I love you Johnny, and I love you baby Tripp.”
Columbus Blue Jackets' statement following Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew's tragic fatal accident
Columbus Blue Jackets star Johnny Gaudreau and his brother, Matthew, died in a biking accident on August 29, 2024. They were hit by a car in New Jersey.
The Columbus Blue Jackets expressed deep sadness over the loss.
“The Columbus Blue Jackets are shocked and devastated by this unimaginable tragedy. Johnny was not only a great hockey player, but more significantly a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend," the team said in a statement.
"Johnny played the game with great joy which was felt by everyone that saw him on the ice. He brought a genuine love for hockey with him everywhere he played." (via NHL.com)
The Calgary Flames, where Johnny played his first nine seasons, also mourned his death, remembering him as a beloved member of their community.
NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman and Wayne Gretzky also expressed sorrow and noted Johnny Gaudreau’s passion for hockey. NHLPA Executive Director Marty Walsh also sent condolences, praising Johnny’s career and the joy he brought to hockey.
