Alex Ovechkin made a return to the ice at the NHL vs. KHL charity game in Moscow, marking his first game since a Dynamo Moscow alumni match in late May. The game was attended by his mother, Tatyana, and wife, Nastasiya.

Ovechkin showed his skills at CSKA Arena alongside other top Russian NHL stars, facing off against the KHL’s elite.

The event, organized by Artemi Panarin and Mikhail Sergachev, aimed to raise funds for charity and succeeded in collecting over 10 million rubles ($144k). Ovechkin scored 23 seconds into the game, assisted by Panarin. He celebrated with Dmitry Orlov and kept the crowd excited.

Playing with Panarin and Malkin, Ovechkin showed his wrist shot and competitive spirit. Despite joking with Malkin during intermission, Ovechkin’s performance stayed strong.

“He doesn’t want to play today,” Malkin said (translated via Google Translate). “Look at his movements. There is no movement. Of course, he has a shot. But after the first shift, that’s it, you can’t see him. Where’s the number eight on the ice?”

Ovechkin responded to a playful comment from Malkin. He said,

“The third period will show everything."

The game ended in a fitting 8-8 tie, with Ovechkin named the best player. Other notable NHL contributors included Panarin, Malkin, Andrei Svechnikov, and Pavel Buchnevich.

Ovechkin even told Match TV that he was happy to play for Russian fans again. He said it was the first time since the World Championship.

"The last time we played in Moscow was at the World Championship. Of course, the fans missed us, and we missed them. It was a very joyful event," Ovechkin said via (Match TV).
