Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid and long-time girlfriend Lauren Kyle will be trying the knot this weekend amid a significant number of close family and friends. The event has drawn attention from fans and the media this summer.
Now, fans can see behind-the-scenes images of the couple’s highly anticipated wedding. In the pics, fans can see the event through the lens of Olympic medalist Mark McMorris, which he shared in his Instagram story.
McDavid’s dog seems to be the star of the show. All eyes will be on the furry fellow, as he will be front and center of the festivities.
The couple will be saying “I do” at a lakeside venue near Muskoka in Ontario, Canada, per Yahoo. Here’s a look at this incredible image as captured by a fan and shared on X, formerly known as Twitter:
The wedding caps off several key events leading up to the big day. The McDavids will get a chance to enjoy the rest of the summer as husband and wife before the business of the NHL season begins in the fall.
In the meantime, July 27 will be cherished by McDavid and Kyle as one of the happiest days of their lives. For NHL fans, it’s a reminder that life isn’t always on the ice. There are special moments off the ice, making life worth living.
Connor McDavid and his “perfect” linemates
A recent piece in The Athletic discussed who Connor McDavid’s “perfect” linemates would be. The piece focused on McDavid's success with Zach Hyman and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. The trio played well last season, leading Hyman to register a 50-goal campaign.
However, the article raises the question of placing Jeff Skinner on the same line as McDavid. Skinner is a bona fide scorer and could benefit from having one of the world’s best playmakers alongside. Considering that McDavid notched 100 assists last season, there is plenty of reason to believe that Skinner could elevate his goal totals next season.
While there is an argument to be made insofar as keeping McDavid with Hyman and Nugent-Hopkins, it’s also worth noting that Leon Draisaitl could benefit from playing with a high-end winger like Skinner. Draisaitl has lacked such talent consistently. So, it would make sense to partner Skinner with Draisaitl.
Ultimately, Kris Knoblauch is faced with fixing something that isn’t broken. In that regard, it might be best to keep the top line together, as the success McDavid and linemates found last year was key to the team’s success. Another similar season could help the club get over the hump and take home the Cup.
