In Photos: Evander Kane's girlfriend Mara Teigen shares beautiful moments from day out with kids
Edmonton Oilers forward Evander Kane is set to undergo surgery to treat his sports hernia injury. NHL insider Bob Stauffer reported that he would likely be placed on the long-term injured reserve to start the year. However, as of now, Kane has not been placed on LTIR by the Oilers.
Off-ice, Kane's girlfriend, Mara Teigen, shared some photos on her Instagram story on Tuesday from a local outing. She was accompanied by her partner and their three kids, Kensington Ava Kane, Iverson Frank Kane and Hendrix Frank Kane.
The family was in a garden near the Alberta Legislature, which is full of greenery and ideal for evening walks. In one picture, the three kids were playing together, forming a circle and discussing something. Tiegen captioned the photo:
"What is life."
In another upload, all of them posed for a family photo. Evander Kane was carrying two of his kids in his arms, while Teigen carried Kensington. She captioned the picture, "Blessed."
Edmonton Oilers keeping an eye on Evander Kane's health and LTIR prospects
The Edmonton Oilers are carefully managing Evander Kane's health as the new season approaches. Kane played through a sports hernia last campaign, which eventually sidelined him during the Stanley Cup Final. He hasn't had surgery yet, but it’s likely that he will, leading to a long recovery.
In a statement during media availability on Tuesday, GM Stan Bowman said:
"Sometimes, you have injuries where surgery is required right away, where it’s obvious that’s the only solution, and then you have another type of injury where it’s not as black and white — there’s a few different ways that a player can move forward with it, and that’s his decision, and we’re going to be supportive of Evander in that.”
The Oilers are preparing for different outcomes, including Kane returning without surgery or needing extended recovery time. His $5.125 million cap hit is important, especially since Edmonton is carefully managing cap space.
