In Photos: Jeremy Swayman, Linus Ullmark and Hampus Lindholm catch up for wedding celebrations in Italy
Boston Bruins goaltenders Jeremy Swayman and Linus Ullmark and defenseman Hampus Lindholm were spotted celebrating together at a wedding in Italy on Thursday. The players were attending the nuptial of their mutual friend Michael "Penzy," the team's photographer.
Swayman posted several photos from the festivities on his Instagram account. One showed the Bruins players posing with the groom and other friends.
Another photo featured just the three players, arms around each other and smiling.
The final photo Swayman shared was a shot of him and his girlfriend, Tori Hickel.
It was likely a welcome break for Swayman, Ullmark and Lindholm before returning to Boston for training camp to prepare for the upcoming NHL season.
Friendship between Bruins goalies Jeremy Swayman and Linus Ullmark
The blossoming friendship between Boston Bruins goaltenders Jeremy Swayman and Linus Ullmark has been a delightful development this NHL season. The two netminders have formed a special bond, supporting each other on and off the ice.
Despite technically being competitors for the starting role, Swayman and Ullmark want nothing more than success for one another.
“To see it translate on the ice so well for both of us is something really special, and we're finding the formula of how to do that every night,” Swayman said in March to CBS News.
Their families have also become quite close.
“I was at his house [Wednesday]. I brought my dad and uncle over, we had a little fika,” Swayman said, referencing the Swedish tradition of gathering for coffee. “It was just so cool. My dad asks how he's doing every time I talk to him. You know, it's like a second son. So it's such a special relationship.”
Swayman has also grown quite fond of Ullmark’s wife’s baking skills:
“His wife makes the best cinnamon buns you'll ever try in your life. I had like six yesterday. They're unbelievable.”
The friendship means the world to both goalies.
“There's nothing compared to Linus, though. He's separated himself. There's no one I'll ever meet like him again. So I'm just enjoying the ride, and hopefully it's gonna continue for a long time,” Swayman said.
Seeing Swayman and Ullmark push each other while maintaining such a positive alliance has been a huge bright spot for the Bruins this season.
