The situation surrounding Max Domi and Maple Leafs
Max Domi will be a pending unrestricted free agent on July 1. He has confirmed ongoing discussions between his agent and the Toronto Maple Leafs regarding a new contract.
"Wearing that jersey was a huge honour and huge privilege,” Domi said (via the Star). "I hope it works out, but we’ll see. That’s over my head now. The agent and [Leafs GM Brad Treliving] are gonna be talking and figuring it out on our end."
"Nothing but great memories here,” Domi added. “The goal is to figure something out (w/ Leafs)."
Domi expressed his desire to return to the Leafs, praising the organization and his teammates. He signed a one-year, $3 million deal with Toronto last year and recorded 47 points in the regular season.
Domi, who has played for seven NHL teams over 10 seasons, also spoke positively about new head coach Craig Berube. Berube was hired after the Maple Leafs parted ways with coach Sheldon Keefe who got fired after a five-season stint.
