In Photos: Leafs’ Morgan Rielly and Olympian wife Teesa celebrate birth of their son with an adorable post

Toronto Maple Leafs alternate captain Morgan Rielly is now a dad. Rielly has welcomed his first child with his partner, three-time Olympic gold medalist figure skater, Tessa Virtue.

Tessa shared the news on her Instagram account with a carousel of pictures of their newborn. One of the pictures showed a blurry still of Virtue holding the baby wrapped in a blanket in her arms.

“McCormick Rielly💙”, Tessa Virtue captioned the post.

She shared another snap of their baby McCormick and a third picture showed Morgan Rielly kissing his newborn in his arms.

Tessa Virtue shared the news of her pregnancy on Instagram earlier this year in May. She posted a picture of her baby bump while on a beach holiday with her husband.

Tessa Virtue and Morgan Rielly had two exclusive weddings

The Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman tied the knot last year with his five-time Olympic medalist partner. Tessa and Morgan announced their engagement in January 2023 and had two private wedding ceremonies, albeit in different countries.

They had their first wedding event in Canada at the Noce resort in Toronto, where they held a private ceremony in attendance of only close friends. They had a second celebration and photoshoot in Italy at the Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco, Tuscany. However, the couple opted to keep things under wraps initially.

"You know when something is just so meaningful to you that you simultaneously want to just hold on to it and protect it so fiercely, and also shout it from the rooftops?" Tessa Virtue told Hello magazine.

The couple had originally met in Vancouver through mutual friends and would eventually hit it up. Virtue, who is five years older than Morgan Rielly, is a three-time champion in the World Figure Skating Championships.

While both athletes have been important figures in their respective sports, Tessa shared that their mutual aim is to be the ‘best partners’ to one another in the marriage.

“I feel this immense responsibility. [Morgan] deserves someone who is at the top of their game, someone who is aiming to be the best version of themselves,” she said. “I think there’s a desire to be the very best partners we can be for one another.” [H/T Hello magazine]

Now the Riellys have welcomed a new member into the family with the arrival of their baby boy. Morgan will be looking to up his game for the coming season with his lucky charm in young McCormick.
