Leon Draisaitl's fiancee, Celeste Desjardins, joined Mikayla Marrelli, Darnell Nurse's wife, to celebrate her birthday. On Monday, Desjardins posted Instagram stories showing moments from the event.
In one of the stories, Desjardins shared a birthday card wishing Mikayla a happy 29th birthday.
The next story showed Desjardins with Marrelli. Desjardins wore a purple off-shoulder dress, while Marrelli chose a simple yet classy light golden dress. Desjardins wrote:
"Happy birthday to one of my favourite humans."
The celebration was light and fun. Desjardins posted another story of them laughing together.
Leon Draisaitl’s fiancee Celeste Desjardins celebrates his $14M a year Oilers extension
Leon Draisaitl signed an eight-year contract extension with the Edmonton Oilers on Sept. 2. The deal, announced on Tuesday, is worth $14 million per year. This makes him the NHL's highest-paid player. The extension keeps Draisaitl with the Oilers until the 2032-33 season when he will be 37.
Draisaitl shared his excitement on instagramI, posting photos from the 2024 Stanley Cup Final with the caption:
"Loyal to the OIL."
His fiancee, Celeste Desjardins, also expressed her pride and excitement about their future in Edmonton through an Instagram story. She posted a photo of them from the 2023 NHL Heritage Classic and wrote:
“So incredibly proud of you baby. I’ve watched you pour so much love and hard work in everything you do. Your commitment and passion for the game is unmatched, I can’t wait to see what the next 8 years has in store for you. So happy to be on this journey with you and get the privilege to call Edmonton home for the next 8 years.
"We have created such a beautiful life there with an incredible community and I’m so excited to watch all your greatness continue there. I know how much this city and this team means to you. Keep going my love! Ich liebe dich. Let’s go Oilers!”
Drafted third overall by the Oilers in 2014, Draisaitl is now one of the NHL’s top forwards. In the 2023-24 season, he scored 41 goals and had 106 points in 81 games. He also added 31 points in 25 playoff games.
In his 11 years with the Oilers, Leon Draisaitl has scored 347 goals and recorded 850 points in 719 games. He remains a key player for the team and is loved in the city of Edmonton.
