In Photos: Leon Draisaitl's "Summer '24" encapsulates his proposal to now-fiancee Celeste, sister Kim & bestfriend Connor McDavid's weddings
Edmonton Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl had an eventful off-season, both on and off-the-ice. From signing a massive eight-year contract with the team to getting engaged to his partner, Celeste Desjardins, Draisaitl has had a summer to remember.
On Saturday, Leon Draisaitl shared a carousel of pictures on his Instagram account with some of the most memorable clicks from his summer. Draisaitl captioned the post,
"Summer ‘24"
The first picture was from their engagement in Mallorca, Spain, where Leon proposed to his fiancée in a romantic setting by the Spanish coastline. Another picture showed an intimate moment between Draisaitl and Celeste from Connor McDavid's wedding afterparty.
He also shared a couple of snaps from the wedding day of his captain as the groomsmen posed with McDavid. In another click, Celeste and Leon smiled during the McDavids’ wedding festivities.
Draisaitl had invited his family and close friends to the surprise engagement party he organized for Celeste in Mallorca. He posted a couple of pictures with his family including his mother, Sandra Draisaitl, from the event.
Leon Draisaitl's sister Kim tied the knot with German field hockey professional Niklas Wellen this summer. Leon shared a couple of pictures from the occasion. In one picture, their father Peter Draisaitl can be seen walking his daughter down the aisle.
Leon also shared one adorable picture of him spending time with Kim's son. The last picture was a black and white still, likely taken during a party Leon and Celeste attended.
Celeste Desjardins penned a heartfelt message after Leon Draisaitl's extension
Leon Draisaitl's new contract means the forward commits the next few years of his NHL career to Edmonton. The forward will make an average salary of $14 million per year, according to the new terms starting 2025-26.
Following the historic deal, Leon Draisaitl's fiancee Celeste Desjardins penned a beautiful message on Instagram, congratulating her beau.
"So incredibly proud of you baby," she wrote in her story. "I've watched you pour so much love and hard work in everything you do. Your commitment and passion for the game is unmatched. I can't wait to see what the next 8 years has in store for you."
"So happy to be on this journey with you and get the privilege to call Edmonton home for the next 8 years. We have created such a beautiful life there with an incredible community and I'm so excited to watch all your greatness continue there. I know how much this city and this team means to you," she added. Keep going, my love! I love you. LET'S GO OILERS."
Celeste mentioned how happy they are to continue living in Edmonton, where they’ve built a great life and community. She knows how much the city and the Oilers mean to Leon and encouraged him to keep going.
