In Photos: Maple Leafs' William Nylander shares pictures of him relaxing with his pups during the off-season
While the Toronto Maple Leafs try to spend their way to contention in 2024-2025, their star player William Nylander is enjoying the time off. The team is hard at work finding the right pieces to get even better next season, but it's valuable rest time for all their players. That includes Nylander, who is enjoying some recuperation with his dogs.
Nylander has two dogs, a black and a brown one. In one photo, he is seen sitting on an outdoor couch at a house with the brown one beside him. In the second photo, Nylander showed his two dogs relaxing together on a couch.
It's the heat of summer and the NHL offseason, which means it is the perfect time for players like Nylander to take some time and enjoy the sun and their family. The NHL season lines up rather well with summer, which is traditionally vacation/break time for most working people.
Ex-Maple Leafs GM floated trading William Nylander
William Nylander is a key piece of the puzzle for the Toronto Maple Leafs, but former GM Brian Burke believes that if the team were to trade someone, it should be Nylander and not Mitch Marner.
It resulted in fan backlash, but here's what Burke had to say about Nylander vs. Marner:
"Obviously, with no-trades and no-moves, you can really question the wisdom of all that, but it really is a case where you are going to have to convince one of these guys to get out. I think the logical guy to move would be Willie Nylander and not Mitch Marner, I’ve said that before, but I think it might be Mitch Marner."
He said that Marner is "a really important player" that kills penalties. He believes fans and others might be down on Marner at the time, but that he is a much more valuable player than Nylander is overall.
There's no telling if the Leafs will trade Nylander or Marner, but Burke had his say on the matter. It was not a quote that was well received by fans of the team.
