In Photos: Matt Rempe's sister Alley shares adorable childhood moments on their dad's "Forty Something" birthday
New York Rangers forward Matt Rempe has time and again mentioned how important his family has been in his life. Recently, his sister Alley Rempe shared some sweet memories from their childhood, including pictures from their late father Ron Rempe's birthday.
Alley posted a series of childhood clicks on her Instagram story on Sunday. She uploaded pictures from the time when all three of the Rempe siblings were young. Alley and Steph are Matt Rempe’s twin sisters, both four years his senior.
In one of the pictures, the Rempe siblings are sitting by their dad while a cake reads, “Happy Forty Something Papa!”
In another click, a young Alley is playing the piano beside her sister Steph, while there's one candid picture of Matt Rempe with his father Ron.
“Lil matt & dad,” Alley Rempe captioned the image.
Matt Rempe's father was originally from Germany and went on to build his own engineering firm in Calgary. Ron died from a sudden heart attack when Matt was only 15. At the time, he was playing for Okanagan Hockey Academy away from home.
‘Cowboy’ Matt Rempe joined his sisters at Calgary Stampede
The New York Rangers forward has been spending time close to family this offseason and took some time with his sisters to unwind at the Calgary Stampede last week.
The stampede, which first started in 1912, is a 10-day event that combines rodeos, exhibitions and festivals, growing into one of the world's largest and most renowned rodeos. Every year in July, cowboys and cowgirls compete in events like bull riding and barrel racing. The event generally kicks off with a grand parade featuring elaborate floats and marching bands.
Rempe donned a black denim jacket with a hat, looking every inch the cowboy. Matt and his sisters were joined by his close friend and former WHL teammate, Tyler Bauer, who is also from Calgary.
Despite a hectic NHL schedule, Matt shares a warm bond with both of his sisters. In fact, a young Matt had taken to hockey because of the twins.
Steph and Alley took to hockey when they were just seven, and a three-year-old Matt imitated everything his sisters did.
“Whatever they did, I wanted to do,” Rempe said in an interview with The Athletic.
The Rempe sisters played collegiate hockey at Brown University and have both now graduated. Matt, meanwhile, will be looking to regroup with the Rangers in the offseason and build for a successful 2024-2025 season.
