Zach Hyman and Connor McDavid's performance in Oilers' Stanley Cup finals run
Captain Connor McDavid and the Oilers played well to reach the NHL playoffs after a poor start to the season. In the playoffs, the Oilers defeated the Los Angeles Kings, Vancouver Canucks and Dallas Stars to reach the Stanley Cup finals. However, they lost the finals 4-3 to the Florida Panthers.
The Oilers bounced back to win three games in a row after losing the first three but fell short in Game 7, losing 2-1. Zach Hyman topped the Oilers in regular-season goals with 54. McDavid scored 32 goals and had 100 assists in 76 regular-season games.
Connor Brown re-signs with Edmonton Oilers
Connor Brown signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the Edmonton Oilers. This deal was inked on July 1st, the first day of free agency. This is a pay cut from Brown's previous one-year, $4 million deal. Brown is valuable as a bottom-six penalty killer.
The 30-year-old winger had 12 points in 71 regular-season games last year. In the playoffs, he scored six points, including two goals and four assists.
Brown's defensive skills and experience will be crucial for Edmonton as they aim for the Stanley Cup next season.
