In Photos: Panthers' Jonah Gadjovich finds unusual use for Stanley Cup trophy in off-season workout
During his off-season, Florida Panthers forward Jonah Gadjovich showed off a creative use for the Stanley Cup. In a photo shared by B/R Open Ice on X, formerly Twitter, Gadjovich can be seen doing a barbell bench press with the Stanley Cup.
Philip Pritchard, Keeper of the Stanley Cup, also shared images of Gadjovich enjoying his time with the trophy.
"Jonah Gadjovich brings Stanley to the community before heading home for personal time with family & friends (Welland, ON) #StanleyCup" Pritchard tweeted.
Gadjovich, who won the Stanley Cup with the Panthers this year, took the cup to various locations. Pritchard also posted a heartwarming photo of Gadjovich with his wife and their newborn twins, Adalee and Lion. The twins were born on May 30th.
Gadjovich, who played only one game for the Canucks in the 2020-21 season, was placed on waivers and claimed by San Jose. He signed with the Florida Panthers last fall. Gadjovich played in 39 games this season but did not see playoff action. His move to Florida paid off as he won the Stanley Cup.
Gadjovich is still actively training in the off-season, but his picture using the Stanley Cup in his workouts was a unique twist. With two years remaining on his contract with the Panthers, he is expected to play a key role in their upcoming championship defense.
Jonah Gadjovich's teammate Oliver Ekman-Larsson also celebrated his day with the Stanley Cup
Jonah Gadjovich and Oliver Ekman-Larsson, former Vancouver Canucks players, are now celebrating their Stanley Cup wins with their new teams.
Ekman-Larsson, who was bought out by the Canucks after the 2022-23 season, signed a one-year deal with Florida. He played in all 80 regular season games and 24 playoff games with the Panthers. In August, Ekman-Larsson took the Stanley Cup to his hometown of Tingsryd, Sweden.
Will Lockwood, another former Canuck, also joined the championship run. However, Keeper of the Stanley Cup Phil Pritchard has not yet traveled with him. Roberto Luongo, a former Canucks goalie, has been with the Panthers' front office and famously enjoyed pasta from the Cup. Ekman-Larsson will not return to Florida; he has signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
