Vadim Shipachyov shared an Instagram post featuring himself with Igor Shesterkin. Shipachyov is a forward for Dinamo Minsk in the Kontinental Hockey League and has also played for other KHL teams and the NHL's Vegas Golden Knights.
The two players pose for the camera, with Shesterkin in a white T-shirt and Shipachyov in a black T-shirt. Shipachyov captioned the post:
"With one of the best goalkeepers in the world."
It's no wonder Shesterkin is considered one of the best goalkeepers. In the 2023-24 season, the New York Rangers goalie played 55 games and started all of them. He averaged 59 minutes and 35 seconds of ice time per game. Shesterkin won 36 games, lost 17 and had two overtime losses. He conceded 141 goals, averaging 2.58 goals against per game. The goalie faced 1,607 shots and made 1,467 saves, with a save percentage of .913, and recorded four shutouts.

Igor Shesterkin from the Rangers is also a contender. Each goalie is focused on performing well and possibly winning the prestigious award.

New York Rangers are facing a difficult decision regarding Igor Shesterkin's contract
The New York Rangers have a legacy of great goaltenders, including John Vanbiesbrouck, Mike Richter and Henrik Lundqvist. Shesterkin is in the final year of a four-year contract that pays him $5.67 million annually. His camp is seeking a new deal worth $12 million per year.
The Rangers must decide if they will commit a large part of their salary cap to Shesterkin. His contract demands, like Lundqvist’s, would be about 12% of the cap. With the cap expected to rise to $92 million in 2025-26, a $12 million salary could fit.
The Rangers face a challenge in putting together a strong team around Shesterkin. They have struggled to win a Stanley Cup despite excellent goaltending. Shesterkin occupies 6.95 percent of the cap. With players like Alexis Lafreniere and K’Andre Miller also needing new contracts, the Rangers must manage their cap space carefully. They project to have $32 million in cap space next season, which could increase if they move Jacob Trouba.
