Nashville Predators captain Roman Josi enjoyed a family vacation in Cancun, Mexico, as his wife Ellie Ottaway shared some photos of their getaway to the popular tourist destination.
After Josi and the Predators were eliminated in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs, the Swiss defenseman began his offseason. Although many players do remain on the ice training, some do go on vacations with their family and friends to relax.
Josi did just that as he went to Cancun with his family.
Ellie Ottaway is a musician and model and the two married in 2019. Together, they have two children, a son and a daughter.
The vacation seemed nice, but after the brief getaway, the plan for Josi is to return to the ice and improve his game to help the Predators lift the Stanley Cup soon.
Roman Josi focused on improving in offseason
Roman Josi has been in the NHL since 2011 after he was drafted 38th overall by the Nashville Predators in the 2008 NHL draft.
Josi became a top defenseman in the NHL in 2014 and hasn't looked back since, as he has been the face of the Predators. Although he's coming off an 85-point season, after Nashville was eliminated, he said he still looks to improve every offseason. Josi said, via The Tennessean:
"I try to improve every year. When I look at my game, there's always things I can improve on. Obviously, I'm getting older, I'm definitely in the second half of my career.
"But I'm a very curious person, I've always tried to watch other players, see what other players are doing. On every aspect, the mental aspect, the game itself, the skill, and off ice. I just always try to improve."
Josi is once again nominated for the Norris Trophy in 2024, as he won the award in 2020. He is also a four-time NHL All-Star. Josi also holds the record for most assists in Nashville Predators history, most assists in a season and most points in a season with 96 in 2021-22.
