Is Jared McCann playing tonight against Blues? Krakens star forward's availability status explored
Seattle Kraken forward Jared McCann is expected to play in Tuesday evening’s season kick-off against the St. Louis Blues. Questions emerged about McCann’s availability for Tuesday evening’s tilt as he was a scratch against the Kraken’s final preseason game.
CBS Sports reports Jared McCann will be ready to play in the Kraken’s season opener despite dealing with an upper-body injury. The 28-year.old should play on Seattle’s top line, while also patrolling the team’s top power play unit.
Last season, McCann notched 29 goals and 62 points in 80 games. This season, the Kraken hope McCann can return to the 40-goal form he displayed in 2022-23. As such, the team hopes that the upper body sustained during the preseason will not be an issue moving forward.
McCann is expected Matty Beniers and Jordan Eberle on Seattle’s top line. The line needs to generate offense to help the Kraken get back into the playoffs.
Jared McCann preaches consistency for this season
NHL.com recently quoted McCann, talking about the upcoming season. McCann stated:
“We need to come out playing great in order to win. We want to be consistent all year and that’s our goal. It starts in practice and we’re definitely going to be working on it a lot.”
McCann concluded his thoughts by saying:
“We can’t chase the game anymore.”
The Kraken hope to start the season off on the right foot with a win on Tuesday evening.
