"Its offically a new year" "GOAT came through": NHL fans react as Boston Bruins secures hard-fought OT win against Kings

The Boston Bruins defeated the Los Angeles Kings 2-1 in overtime on Saturday. David Pastrnak scored the winning goal 3:07 into overtime, his third in three games. Elias Lindholm also scored for Boston, while goalie Jeremy Swayman made 33 saves.

The Kings took the lead with Trevor Moore's goal in the second period, but Lindholm tied the game. Boston shared a 10-second video on X to celebrate the victory, with the caption:

"#NHLBRUINS WIN IN OT!!! 🙌".

Fans quickly reacted to the Bruins' win on social media.

"OT WIN, IT’S OFFICIALLY A NEW YEAR," one fan said.
"ALL CRED to the passers Lohrei, Potsy who were not going to be denied they were going to get that puck to Pasta!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" another fan said.
"Goat came through" a fan said.

"Gotta move Poitras to line two you see what he can do, could even join pasta and lindholm on first line but we can get a lot of offense with him on the top 6 he showed it tonight!!!" one fan said.
"Everytime I talk shit about this pastrnak guy he ends up scoring an ot winner," another fan said.

The Boston Bruins are now 2-1-0 and will play the Florida Panthers next.


A close look at Boston Bruins's OT win over Kings

In the first period, neither team scored. Los Angeles King's Alex Laferriere got a hooking penalty, while Brandt Clarke was penalized for high-sticking.

In the second period, Trevor Moore scored for the Kings at 5:22, assisted by Phillip Danault and Quinton Byfield. Elias Lindholm tied the game for Boston at 16:50, assisted by Brad Marchand. Several penalties were called, including Nikita Zadorov for boarding and Jordan Spence for interference.

In the third period, no goals were scored, but Brandon Carlo and David Pastrnak received penalties. Quinton Byfield was also penalized for holding the stick.

In overtime, David Pastrnak scored the winning goal at 3:07, assisted by Mason Lohrei and Matthew Poitras. No penalties occurred during overtime.
