Jeff Petry’s wife Julie shares emotional 9/11 story, pays condolences to victims and their families

Julie Petry, wife of Montreal Canadiens defenseman Jeff Petry, shared a touching Instagram story about the September 11 terrorist attacks. She posted a photo of the World Trade Center Memorial from Eataly NYC Downtown.

Julie remembered being in seventh grade on 9/11 as she wrote:

"I was in 7th grade. I remember being in the hallway of my middle school & seeing one of my teachers down the hall sobbing in another teachers' arms.
"When I got back to the classroom, we were directed to go back to our home rooms, where our teachers tried to explain what was happening."

Julie reflected on the events 23 years ago, saying she still remembers every detail.

"At 12 years old, we didn't fully grasp the magnitude of what was happening, but we felt it such a somber day remembering every detail from 23 years ago
"Praying for those families who lost their loved ones that day & praying for our country that has never been the same"

Jeff Petry is rumored to be in a trade to the Maple Leafs

The Toronto Maple Leafs are considering a trade to improve their defense. They might acquire Jeff Petry from the Detroit Red Wings. In exchange, the Red Wings would get Nick Robertson and Timothy Liljegren.

Jeff Petry, who is in the final year of his $25 million contract, would become a second-pairing defenseman for Toronto. Last season, Jeff Petry played 73 games, with three goals and 21 assists. Over his career, he has recorded 95 goals and 282 assists in 937 games.

Nick Robertson, a restricted free agent, has asked for a trade from the Maple Leafs. He has 17 goals and 17 assists in 87 NHL games. Timothy Liljegren, drafted in 2017, has had trouble staying in the Maple Leafs' lineup but could fit well with Detroit's young players.

The Red Wings are focused on building a young team around players like Lucas Raymond and Moritz Seider. Their goal is to create a team that could compete for championships in the future.

Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving still sees Robertson as important for the team despite thr player's desire to move on. This trade would help the Maple Leafs strengthen their defense while giving the Red Wings young talent to support their rebuilding process.
