Jeff Skinner picks Oilers' dynamic duo as his favorite while tuning in to NHL games
Former Buffalo Sabres forward Jeff Skinner has signed with the Edmonton Oilers on a one-year deal worth $3 million. During a recent one-on-one interview with Jason Gregor, Skinner was asked which NHL players he likes to watch on TV. He mentioned that he enjoys watching Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl because they are among the best in the league (via Oilersnation):
“I’m not just saying this, but McDavid and Draisaitl. I mean I like watching all the best players in the league. So obviously those two are at the top of the list."
He also mentioned current Art Ross trophy holder Nikita Kucherov of the Tampa Bay Lightning.
“I like watching Kucherov, I think, especially on the power play, he’s pretty crafty there. I think those three pretty much cover almost everyone who watches hockey’s favorite players to watch."
The left wing pointed out that McDavid and Draisaitl are versatile enough to work well with various types of players when discussing their playing styles. As a winger, Skinner said it’s his responsibility to adapt to the centerman's play, especially since the puck is often in the middle. He appreciates how McDavid and Draisaitl create space and looks forward to playing on the same team as them.
Jeff Skinner addresses whether he is a ‘Swiftie’
In the same interview, Jason Gregor asked Jeff Skinner if he was indeed a Swiftie. Skinner responded by mentioning that his little sister is a big Taylor Swift fan and because of his sister's enthusiasm, he might have to go along with that:
“My little sister is in the Taylor Swift zone. So, I might have to go with that one because apparently that new show is good. So again, pretty safe answer I’d say.”
When Jason Gregor asked Skinner if he had met Taylor Swift, Skinner confirmed that he had met her a long time ago. However, he added that he doesn't think Swift would remember the meeting.
As for his favorite music artist, Skinner said his favorite concert was one of Ed Sheeran's, particularly when he saw him perform at a small venue early in his career. When asked about any artists he hasn't seen but would like to, the left wing admitted he wasn't sure.
Meanwhile, Jeff Skinner’s one-year deal will see him making $3 million for the 2024-25 NHL season. Jeff is now 32 years old and this was his first free agency in his entire career. With Edmonton, Skinner will be looking to make the playoffs and experience the postseason.
