Joe Sacco makes his feelings known about Boston Bruins "Never Say Die" attitude in comeback OT win over Flames
Boston Bruins head coach Joe Sacco praised his team's "never say die" attitude after their dramatic 4-3 overtime comeback victory against the Calgary Flames on Tuesday night.
The Bruins entered the third period trailing 3-1 but rallied to score two goals in the final frame and one in OT to complete the comeback win.
When asked about the team's mentality entering the third period, Sacco emphasized the Bruins' determination and refusal to give up.
“I was really proud of our effort in the third period. I thought the guys showed a lot of determination and a never say die attitude," Sacco said.
“Good on them, they worked hard in the third period, and we did it the right way. We generated a lot of quality chances, and when you play that way, the result will usually take care of itself," he added.
Sacco revealed that despite trailing after two periods, there was still a strong belief in the locker room.
"Well, we thought we were still in the game…There was still a strong belief in the room that we could come back [from 3-1 down].”
For Boston, Elias Lindholm, Morgan Geekie, Marc McLaughlin and David Pastrnak scored. Matt Coronato, Nazem Kadri and Ryan Lomberg tallied for Calgary.
Jeremy Swayman saved 20 shots on the night while Dustin Wolf stopped 31 shots in the loss.
