Johnny Gaudreau's widow Meredith shares photo of baby bump as she prepares for birth of third child
Late NHLer Johnny Gaudreau and his wife Meredith were the parents of two adorable children, daughter Noa and son Johnny. The couple were expecting their third child together when the Columbus Blue Jackets forward and his brother Matthew died in a tragic road accident in late August.
On Saturday, Meredith Gaudreau shared a couple of images of her baby bumps taken less than a year apart. In the caption, she wrote:
“Baby Johnny 9 months in, Baby Johnny 9 months out”
The first photo is a mirror selfie of Meredith with her baby bump from her second pregnancy with son Johnny Jr. as daughter Noa stood beside her in pajamas. The second image saw her holding Johnny Jr. as a baby while showing off her baby bump of their third child as she took a mirror selfie.
Meredith Gaudreau revealed she was expecting her third child during Johnny Gaudreau’s memorial on Sept. 9. She described the pregnancy as a total surprise, recalling Johnny’s immediate reaction of joy.
“I was so nervous because this [pregnancy] was, again, a total surprise," Meredith said. "But his reaction was just immediately kissing me and hugging me even though I was driving the car. After the initial excitement sank in, every time he looked at me, he would say, ‘You’re nuts, you know that? Three kids?’” [H/T globalnews.com]
Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau died while cycling in Salem County when they were hit by an allegedly drunk driver on August 29.
Johnny Gaudreau’s wife shares her gratitude to Calgary for special tribute
The Gaudreau family experienced an emotional week as they received heartfelt tributes in memory of Matthew and Johnny Gaudreau in both Columbus and Calgary. The two cities honored the late hockey star during games between the Blue Jackets and Flames.
While in Calgary on Friday, Johnny’s wife Meredith shared her gratitude for the city’s support. She wrote on X:
“So thankful for this past week in Calgary and soooo grateful for John for giving me this community. Was hard being there without him but feeling the outpouring love from the city filled my broken heart.”
The week included a special ceremony at the Scotiabank Saddledome, where Johnny’s father, Guy skated with Flames players during practice. Before the game, both teams wore #13 jerseys in tribute, and a video celebrating Johnny’s life played for the crowd.
The Gaudreau family were there on the ice for the ceremonial puck drop. The Flames also honored Johnny’s memory by repurposing sticks from his memorial into a bench for a local community rink.
