Justin Kirkland's wife Madison offers special gift to fan rocking No. 58's 'Costco' jersey
Calgary Flames forward Justin Kirkland has become a popular figure among the Flames faithful. Fans have even given the player a nickname, 'Costco,' based on the Kirkland-based product brand.
A fan was spotted wearing a custom jersey with "Costco" and Kirkland's number, 58 during a game. The picture went viral after and Justin Kirkland's wife, Madison, saw the post and shared it on X.
She mentioned she'd love to give home game tickets to the fan if someone could help identify him. In the caption, Madison wrote:
“Let’s find this man!.. I’ll give him my two tickets to the next home game🥰❤️🔥🔥”
Justin Kirkland's wife is a passionate spectator of the game and remains quite active on social media. Speaking of her celebration after his first NHL goal, Justin Kirkland had said:
"We got back from Edmonton at midnight and she's on the front steps of the street dancing in her pajamas and smiling."
Justin Kirkland opens up on his nickname
Earlier last week, during an interview with TSN, Justin Kirkland was asked about his "Costco" nickname and how it started. The player admitted he doesn’t really know the origin, but mentioned that he is enjoying it.
“Your guess is as good as mine, I haven't, you know, that's kind of blown up this year. I've heard it a few times over the years, but it seems to really have taken off this year, which is cool. I think it's all good fun and games, so we're enjoying it, and yeah, it's been funny to see all that stuff online,” Kirkland said.
“It's just all good stuff. Do you know who said it to you for the first time years ago? I don't know, I've heard it from fans a couple times over the years in the minors and stuff, and obviously now it's kind of blown up,” he added.
When asked if Costco had reached out to him with any sponsorship offer, he joked that he’d love a membership waiver but hasn’t heard anything yet.
“No, no, not yet. I'm hoping maybe I'll get my membership fee waived or something like that, but no, it's all good. One of my favorite stores, so it's all good.”
Drafted by the Nashville Predators in 2014, Kirkland never played for them and eventually signed with the Calgary Flames in 2019, where he mostly played in the AHL. He then joined the Anaheim Ducks and made his NHL debut in the 2022-23 season.
Kirkland signed with the Arizona Coyotes for 2023-24 but played just two NHL games. This summer, he returned to Calgary and has become a fan favorite.
