NHL: Ottawa Senators at Boston Bruins

Linus Ullmark posts emotional goodbye after Boston Bruins departure; highlights favorite moments as a 'Spoked B' member

Linus Ullmark, the former Bruins goalie, penned a heartfelt goodbye message following his trade to the Ottawa Senators. On Monday, the Boston Bruins sent Ullmark to the Senators in exchange for a first-round draft pick at this year's NHL draft, alongside forward Mark Kastelic and netminder Joonas Korpisalo. The Sens will ratin Korpisalo's 25% salary for the next season.

The veteran goaltender shared an emotional farewell on Instagram after leaving the Boston Bruins, where he spent three seasons, reminiscing about his cherished moments as a member of the 'Spoked B.'

"Thank you, thank you, thank you. To all the wonderful teammates, coaches, trainers, workers, chefs, management, the bull gang, and most of all, you Bruins fans.
The memories l've accumulated during my stay in Boston are too many to count and I will always cherish the friendships and bonds you've helped create. You guys will always have a special place in my heart, and in my family's heart," he captioned the post.

Ullmark joined the Bruins via free agency in 2021 and spent three seasons with the club. In the following year, the 30-year-old veteran netminder won the coveted Vezina Trophy as the best goaltender in the league for a dominant campaign in which he posted a 1.89 GAA and .938 SV%.

Linus Ullmark excited for new chapter in Ottawa

In the video shared on Instagram, the Ottawa Senators' new goalie, Ullmark, greeted the Sens fans from the northern part of his hometown, Sweden.

He expressed his excitement about joining the team, meeting all the fans, and starting this new chapter in his career and connection with the passionate fan base of the Senators.

"Hey, what's up, Sens fans? Linus Ullmark here. Checking in from the northern part of Sweden. Boy, I am excited to get this show on the road. I can't wait to meet all of you good fans out there, from the youngest ones to the oldest ones. So I'll see you in a couple weeks, months, or whatever it may be. Take care," said Ullmark in a video posted on IG.

He played a key role in the Bruins' historic 2022–23 season, in which they set the record for most points (135) by a franchise in NHL history.
