Maple Leaf's HC Craig Berube provides major update on William Nylander availability against Kings

William Nylander has been dealing with an illness that has made its way to the Toronto Maple Leafs locker room. He has not yet missed a game; however, he has been out of practice. The good news for Leafs fans is that he has been recovering well and there's a chance he will be in the lineup on Wednesday night.

According to reporter David Alter, Leafs coach Craig Berube revealed that Nylander's symptoms have started to subside and he is feeling better. However, he isn't guaranteed to play and will be a game-time decision.

Previously, John Tavares also had an illness and was out of the lineup. He is back now but it seems that the illness has been passed on to Nylander and other teammates. Berube said this has been happening and wasn't overly concerned about any of his players' health.

"We will see how the day goes for him. I think there is improvement so hopefully he is better later and ready to play."

Nylander has been a consistent presence in the Leafs' lineup for years. He played in 82 and 81 games in the past two seasons. He could play all 82 again this year as his illness looks to be relatively minor.

William Nylander and other injured Maple Leafs on the mend

So far this year, the Toronto Maple Leafs have been relatively healthy. Joseph Woll had an injury to open the season but it wasn't a major one and the only other absences on the team have been related to illness.

William Nylander starred against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday but missed some practices with the illness. His availability for Wednesday night's game against the LA Kings is up in the air.

Tavares, who missed the win against the Penguins, is officially back and on the line again. Woll skated for the third straight day and faced some shots which moves him even closer to a return to the lineup.

Defenseman Timothy Liljegren was a healthy scratch in Toronto's first three games but is expected to be in the lineup and make his season debut against the Kings.
