Maple Leafs HC opens up about his team's physical play in Game 1

Leafs HC Craig Berube shared his thoughts on the physicality displayed by his team in Game 1, noting that both teams were physical in the first period.

He emphasized that the game was inherently physical, and his team managed to control their emotions and play through it effectively (via Mapleleafshotstove):

"We were physical in the first period, I thought, and they were, too. It is physical hockey, and it is going to be physical. We did a good job of controlling our emotions and playing through it. You have to. As I said, it was going to be a battle, and it was," Berube said post-game.

The Leafs' core four had a standout performance. Mitch Marner notched three points, while Auston Matthews, William Nylander, and John Tavares all racked up two points. Anthony Stolarz made 31 saves, posting a .931 save percentage on the night.

Game 2 of the first-round playoff series between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators takes place on Tuesday at Scotiabank Arena. The puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
