Connor McDavid has kept his eyes on the target
Last season, Connor McDavid and the Oilers had a tough start. Their rocky patch included injuries to key players Ryan McLeod and Mattias Ekholm. To avoid a similar fate this fall, McDavid has adjusted his summer training regimen.
To further help matters, McDavid is now flanked by Leon Draisaitl, who signed a long-term deal with Edmonton worth $112 million. McDavid is also excited to play for Team Canada at the NHL 4 Nations Face-Off. His primary focus, however, is starting the season strong and helping his team.
When discussing the Game 7 Stanley Cup Finals loss from last year, McDavid admits he’ll never fully get over it. During training camp in Vail, Colorado, he said,
"It's something that you'll never really get over... But ultimately, time moves on, and you’ve got to get ready to go again.”
Connor McDavid has gained experience from his Stanley Cup finals run and knows each season brings new challenges. He and the team are focused on making another deep playoff run and winning the NHL's top prize.
