"Nobody is feeling sorry for us": Cale Makar makes his feelings known about Avalanche's depleted lineup owing to multiple injuries
Cale Makar expressed his thoughts on the Colorado Avalanche's struggles with injuries. The team faces significant challenges in its lineup. The Avs faced another setback with the injury of their leading scorer Ross Colton, who broke his foot while blocking a shot. He's expected to be out for five to six weeks.
The injury to Colton adds to the growing list of players sidelined for the Avalanche. Despite the setbacks, defenseman Cale Makar emphasized the team's confidence in their remaining players. Makar reckons the group can win and is determined to maintain a positive mindset:
"I mean, we have confident guys filling all the spots. It's not we can't worry about who's out. Unfortunately, it's just we got to work with the group that we got in here so nobody's feeling sorry for us. We're not feeling sorry for ourselves.
"We definitely want to be healthy, but at the same time, we know this group in here is capable of winning regardless of who we have, so we just had to flip that mindset and make sure that we come out every single night regardless of the lineup and still make sure that we're competing and out working the other team," he added.
The team is missing Miles Wood, Jonathan Drouin, captain Gabriel Landeskog, and Artturi Lehkonen due to injuries. It's also without Valeri Nichushkin, who's facing a suspension and won't return to the lineup until mid-November.
Cale Makar and Nathan MacKinnon extend point
streak
Cale Makar and Nathan MacKinnon recorded two points each in a 5-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning at home on Wednesday night. With that, both extended their point streak to 11 games.
"I'm just trying to help the team win," Makar said. "I don't think I'm never worried about myself individually. I think I still have better every single night.
"So felt like tonight again, just a little bit slow start, but figured it out in the second and third for myself, and you got to find a way to play full 60. That's only where we're winning games right now."
The Colorado Avalanche have lost two straight games after winning five in a row. They are sixth in the Central Division with 10 points and face the Nashville Predators next on Saturday.
