Ottawa Senators reach agreement to build new arena at LeBreton Flats: Report

The Ottawa Senators are reportedly about to announce an official agreement with the NCC to build a new arena on LeBreton Flats. According to hockey reporter Wayne Scanlan on Friday, the Senators, who have been looking for a new stadium and amenities, have their deal in place and will eventually move forward with the construction of their eventual home.

"Expect an announcement today that the Senators have reached an agreement with the NCC to build an arena and other amenities on LeBreton Flats. The Senators will have a media conference this afternoon," Scanlan posted on X.

The Senators are expected to announce the decision today. Some, but not all, of the details of the agreement are expected to be revealed as well. One such detail is how much land the deal will include for parking, which has been a priority for Sens owner Michael Andlauer.

Andlauer previously said via Yahoo! Sports:

“This cannot happen without public support. I’m fully going to do my part. It’s not like I feel like I’m privileged, and I’m sitting there saying, ‘Do you know who I am? I’m the Ottawa Senators, and therefore I should be getting (this all paid for).’"

Andlauer added that it's about "what the fans want." The owner also said that he's simply holding this role for a "period of time," and he wants to do what’s right for the fans.

Ottawa Senators star gives health update ahead of preseason

NHL practice camps are underway, and Ottawa Senators star Josh Norris, who's been dealing with some health issues recently, completed his first outing successfully.

Via The Hockey News, he said:

"Nice to be out there and officially start the season. And yeah, I feel good... It's a much better position than I was last year. So I'm happy about that. And I'm excited to get things going."

Last year, Norris' health kept him on the sidelines for the entire preseason and the first three games of the regular season, so he's ahead of that curve this time around. He chalked it up to taking the right time to recover this season.
