'Our lack of respect for the game': Brad Marchand makes his thoughts on Bruins' cause for early slump extremely clear

The Boston Bruins are off to a rough start this season with a 3-4-1 record after losing 5-2 against the Dallas Stars on Thursday. This marked the Bruins' third consecutive loss, prompting captain Brad Marchand to speak candidly about the team's struggles.

In a post-game interview, Marchand pointed to a lack of chemistry and missing key players during training camp as factors, but ultimately blamed the slump on a lack of respect for the game.

"You know, sometimes it's just tough to when you have a lot of turnover a couple years in a row, you're trying to find that chemistry," Marchand said.
"Obviously there's a lot of guys that miss important days in camp that can change how a team comes together, but it's early, and like I said, a lot of the mistakes that we're making and the reasons that we feel we're losing is because of our lack of respect for the game and consistency and details."

Brad Marchand talked about working through tough stints by simplifying their approach. He noted that by the late second or third period, penalties had already caused issues. However, he believes that when they play the right way, they're a strong team.

He believes the team can play well but just needs to maintain consistency. The Bruins captain made it clear that he and the veteran players needed to lead by example and set the tone.

Brad Marchand looks optimistic despite three straight losses

Bruins winger Brad Marchand remains optimistic about the team's prospects going forward despite three losses.

“We're not going to look at the record or, you know, any individual game and get down…And you know, if any team thinks that there's going to roll through that, you know, they get another thing coming. “
“So, it's a great opportunity for us to, you know, take advantage of it and be better and enjoy that process of working and just simplifying. So what we are at."

Marchand stressed focusing on the process rather than the results right now. The Bruins hope to get back on track against their Atlantic Division rivals, the Toronto Maple Leafs, on Saturday night at home.
