Paul Bissonnette gets real with his Oilers-Panthers Stanley Cup Final prediction - "I can't spew anymore of this bulls**t"
The Stanley Cup Final is well underway, and the Florida Panthers have taken a commanding 2-0 lead in the series. The series will now shift to Edmonton, where the Oilers will look to even things up and force games 5 and 6. It may be a tall order considering Florida's dominance in Game 2, which is a sentiment shared by NHL analyst Paul Bissonnette.
"I can't spew anymore of this bulls**t," Bissonnette said on a recent episode of "Spittin' Chiclets."
Bissonette was referring to having to defend the Edmonton Oilers and express that they still have a chance to win the Stanley Cup Final.
"This series is over. I think it's over in five games," he continued, using the Oilers' lack of effort in the second half of Game 2 as his reasoning.
It is never wise to rule one team out of a potential comeback considering some of the crazy moments we have seen in sports. It is also difficult to rule out the Edmonton Oilers closing the series gap considering the fact that they have the likes of Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl and Zach Hyman on the roster.
"We’re happy with the results in our first two." @JamesonCoop has your recap after our Game 2 victory!" - @FlaPanthers
All that being said, coming back to win the Stanley Cup Final may be incredibly difficult. Historically, only five teams have come back from being down 2-0 in the final out of 54 attempts. The numbers are not in the Oilers' favor. However, it is not impossible even though the Florida Panthers are clearly in control.
The Stanley Cup Final shifts to Edmonton as Oilers look to stay alive
Even though Paul Bissonette may be ruling the Edmonton Oilers out for the remainder of the series, his co-host Ryan Whitney is seeing things differently. With the series shifting back to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Oilers will have the opportunity to take home-ice advantage and attempt to fight their way back into the series.
Connor McDavid and the Oilers have been excellent at home so far this postseason. They have gone 6-3 at Rogers Place and will look to keep that trend going when the Stanley Cup Final resumes on Friday night.
