Paul Bissonnette lavishes high praise on Dylan Guenther after another solid performance vs Islanders
Paul Bissonnette praised Utah's Dylan Guenther after his strong performance against the New York Islanders. On Thursday night, Guenther had a big impact in the 5-4 win over the Islanders.
After Josh Doan tied the game with 1:54 left, Guenther scored his second goal in overtime to give Utah the win. Guenther shone under pressure, showing why he was drafted ninth overall in 2021.
Bissonnette tweeted:
“Dylan Guenther is lethal. 4 goals in his first 2 games after signing the big ticket. Utah so fun to watch.”
This win improved Utah's record to 2-0 in their first season in Salt Lake City and also showed the team's resilience.
Along with Guenther, Lawson Crouse and Barrett Hayton also scored. Connor Ingram made 21 saves, including a key stop against Bo Horvat, while Utah was short-handed in the third period. The start is exciting for the team that just moved from Arizona.
For the Islanders, the game revealed some weaknesses, especially in the third period, as they had trouble keeping their lead. Despite good play from Anthony Duclair, who had a goal and an assist, the team couldn't secure the win. Bissonnette noted:
“Islanders are mentally weak with the 3rd period leads.”
It suggests that they need to strengthen their focus in critical moments. Dylan Guenther is in the spotlight as Utah gets ready for their game against the New York Rangers.
Dylan Guenther had also led the Utah Hockey Club to their first franchise win against the Blackhawks
On Wednesday, the Utah Hockey Club won their first game against the Chicago Blackhawks, 5-2.
Dylan Guenther and Clayton Keller scored in the first period, giving Utah an early lead. Guenther later added an empty-net goal, finishing with two goals. Barrett Hayton had a goal and an assist, while Lawson Crouse scored late on.
The Blackhawks fought back after falling behind 3-0 as Teuvo Teravainen and Nick Foligno closed the gap. Chicago played better in the second period, with 11 shots on goal but couldn’t score enough. Utah's penalty kill was strong, stopping all three power plays. Hayton’s key goal helped Utah maintain a safe lead, allowing them to secure their first franchise win.
The Utah Hockey Club has a record of 2-0-0 and 1-0-0 on the road. They play the New York Rangers, who are 1-0-0 and haven't played at home yet. The game is on Saturday at 19:00 EST and will be available on ESPN+.
