Paul Bissonnette makes his thoughts on 'uninspiring' Buffalo Sabres absolutely clear
NHL analyst Paul Bissonnette is not impressed by the Buffalo Sabres. After 10 straight losses dropped them to 11-16-4, the former hockey player blasted the team for sliding all the way into seventh place in their division.
On Tuesday's episode of the "Spittin' Chiclets" podcast, Bissonnette said:
"They need an organizational cleanse, where it's like you have to get to a level of desperation and just say, f**k it and set the standard where we're not going to be f**king poopy pants around here anymore. We're not playing this f**king east-west coast like fluff hockey." (1:01:00)
He said he watched a game recently dubbed the "Toilet Bowl" and noted that the team hadn't won in their five-game homestand and even blew a four-goal lead to the Colorado Avalanche. Even if they got a few points during that stretch, Bissonnette was not happy with them.
He went on to lambast the team up and down:
"There is no sense of urgency. They don't play hard. They don't get on the forecheck. They don't apply any type of pressure. They try a line rush, even if it's not a high-percentage play. They get it turned over, it's going back the other way. The way that they f*cking play is so uninspiring."
What was once a somewhat promising season quickly turned sour for the Sabres, who have a lot of work to do to get back into contention.
Buffalo Sabres owner visited team after recent skid
For 10 games and through various methods, the Buffalo Sabres have lost. Their season has quickly turned on its head. According to TSN, owner Terry Pegula, who also owns the Buffalo Bills, visited the team to try and inspire change.
After the 5-3 loss against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday, head coach Lindy Ruff said:
“I’m almost at a loss for words. It’s on me to solve this. This is the toughest solve I’ve been around, but it is on me to get these guys in the right place to win a hockey game.”
This team meeting occurred after their latest loss. The team is an astounding 0-7-3 since the last time they won, which was a 4-2 win on the road against the San Jose Sharks on Nov. 23.
