Penguins GM Kyle Dubas makes his thoughts on Tristan Jarry's struggling start very clear

Pittsburgh Penguins General Manager Kyle Dubas expressed his concerns about Tristan Jarry's struggles in goal.

The team has been facing challenges on the road, particularly highlighted by their recent 4-3 shootout loss to the Calgary Flames, which continued a trend of poor goaltending.

Currently, the Penguins are allowing an average of 4.25 goals per game, ranking them the second worst in the NHL. Dubas emphasized the need for Jarry to regain his form, noting that his performance has not met expectations, leading to him being a healthy scratch.

"I think everyone's been aware of the struggles that Tristan's had," Dubas said via NHL.com. "He's owned them publicly as well. We need to do right by him with getting him on the right track for better or worse. This does happen with goalies in the league that go on to find their way back and have very successful, long careers.
It's how they handle this stretch that will define it, and that's what we're looking forward to from Tristan," he added.

Reflecting on his experience as both an assistant manager and a GM, Dubas noted that many talented goalies have gone through similar tough patches. He rejected the notion of giving up on Tristan Jaary and expressed confidence in the goalie's ability to overcome the challenge.

Jarry has posted a troubling 5.47 GAA and a .836 SV% in three games for the Penguins this season.

Insider weighs in on Tristan Jarry's situation with Penguins

NHL insider Frank Seravalli also weighed in on Tristan Jarry's situation and what the club can do with the goaltender.

Seravalli highlighted complexities surrounding Jarry's contract and his performance. Jarry is currently in the second year of a five-year, $5.375 million, and his recent struggles make it difficult for teams to consider acquiring him.

The insider pointed out that while Jarry was once viewed as a promising talent in the league, perceptions have shifted due to his inconsistent play over a larger sample size.

"You don’t have to go back very far to have a period of time where a lot of people were really high on Tristan Jarry and his stature in the game," Seravalli said via Daily Faceoff. "I think part of that has changed over a larger sample size, and I think the Pittsburgh Penguins are more or less stuck."

This leaves the Pittsburgh Penguins in a challenging position, as they may find it difficult to move on from him at this time.

The Penguins will look to return to winning ways when they travel to Rogers Place to take on the Edmonton Oilers on Friday.
