"QUEEN of the house": Jeff Petry's wife Julie shares how she prioritizes self-care and feminine side while raising boys

Julie Petry, the wife of Detroit Red Wings player Jeff Petry, shared on Friday how she maintains her feminine side while raising her boys Boyd, Barrett, Bowen and Blake. She shared in an Instagram Q&A that growing up a tomboy helped her embrace being a strong female role model for her sons.

"Oh gosh, I've never really thought about it like that. I was always a tomboy growing up...So, I feel like my style/ energy/ everything about me was meant to be this strong female presence raising these boys." Julie wrote.

Julie Petry added she prioritizes self-care by spending time with supportive friends, eating well, and exercising. She also enjoys beauty treatments and exploring her style.

"But I guess I would say as I've gotten older, I value my time with my close girlfriends who pour into my soul in the best ways." Julie wrote, "I nourish my body with things that naturally make me feel my best & vibrate at my highest potential. I prioritize taking time for myself especially when it comes to workouts that can play into this."

Julie Petry humorously added that she often reminds her boys that she’s the "queen of the house" and deserves respect.

"I try to keep up with the occasional beauty treatments that make me feel even better in my skin, I have become more interested in style which is fun, and I constantly remind the boys that I am the QUEEN of the house & to treat me that way," Julie wrote.

Julie Petry and her family will now live through her husband's busy NHL season.

Julie Petry also shared her excitement for the new NHL season during an Instagram Q&A. When asked if she was ready, Petry wrote she and her husband, Jeff, have been looking forward to it:

"So ready! Jeff & I were just talking about it a few weeks ago, remembering how exhilarating the last 5-10 games of last season were...we all were ready for it to be September when it ended & here we are now still as fired up ready to go again!"

Julie Petry also wrote she is happy that their sons are getting older and can enjoy these special moments. She wrote their family's experience is unique, and they want to appreciate every moment.

Jeff Petry is expected to play a crucial role for the Red Wings this season.
