Ryan Whitney responds in three words to fan's concern about his wellbeing after Edmonton Oilers' startling league standing
Ryan Whitney, a former NHL player and co-host of Spittin Chiclets who supports the Edmonton Oilers, responded to a fan’s concern. This happened after the Oiler's recent 4-1 loss to the Dallas Stars whom they defeated in last year's playoffs.
Whitney replied with three words:
"NO IM NOT."
The fan, @brandon_harris2, had noticed Whitney’s absence on Twitter and joked about the Edmonton Oilers' poor standing in the league.
"@ryanwhitney6 Oilers second to last in standings, hasn’t tweeted in 2-days, Oilers crunched by the Stars, Broberg 6-game point streak, and Holloway’s first goal as a Blue. Is Ryan Whitney okay?"
Earlier, Whitney’s co-host, Paul Bissonnette, had also commented on the Oilers’ struggles. He wrote:
"Oilers are broken again. Whit had the balls to ask me about Woll on the new podcast coming out Tuesday buddy worry about your own team this might get ugly."

Edmonton Oilers's struggling start to 2024-25 season
The Edmonton Oilers are struggling this season, somewhat similar to last year's poor start which made the Oilers change its head coach to Kris Knoblauch. This year the Oilers have lost four out of their six games.
This is just a continuation of their poor preseason record where they lost five of the eight games. They have already lost to Calgary Flames in a split-squad game, lost to Vancouver Canucks and Seattle Kraken, and Winnipeg Jets.
The Oilers lost to the Jets in the season opener with a 6-0 score followed by a loss to Blackhawks 5-2 and then again to Flames 4-1. This was three consecutive losses to start the 2024-25 season. They followed this with two consecutive wins over the Flyers (4-3) and Predators (4-2). But again lost to the Dallas Stars with a 4-1 score.
The Oilers scored only three goals in their first three games and allowed fifteen goals. So far they have scored 12 goals in six games, allowing 27 goals. Their star goalie from last season Stuart Skinner needs to perform better and the offense will have to step up and take charge in games if they want to bounce back after a poor start to the 2024-25 season.
