Sidney Crosby makes his thoughts known on Penguins' 9-2 win over Canadiens
Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins scored nine goals in a game on Thursday. That total is not achieved very often, and it's even less frequent for a team that's struggling. Nevertheless, they dominated the Montreal Canadiens 9-2.
Crosby said of the victory:
"We fed off a second there a bit, we don't really expect that fifth goal in the powerplay. It is a tough one, you know that one put it ahead of us. We had a lot of momentum at that point, we are just giving ourselves a chance, we are not beating ourselves."
In typical fashion, Crosby isn't satisfied and believes there are things they can improve:
"The score looks the way it is but for the most of the game, it was pretty close. Made some good saves in the second period, easily could have tied it or went ahead. We just have to continue to get better and do the right things similar to what we have been doing since the last chunk of time."
Crosby scored three points on three assists. Rickard Rakell had two goals and two assists. Bryan Rust poured in a hat trick, and Matt Nieto, Kris Letang, Noel Acciari and Anthony Beauvillier added a goal apiece.
Sidney Crosby is looking forward to Team Canada reunions
Sidney Crosby will highlight the Canadian 4 Nations Face-Off team next year. When he would normally be playing in the NHL All-Star Game, he will team up with fellow Canadians to try and win an international tournament.
He is looking forward to the chance to reunite with some teammates he hasn't played with since they're not on the Pittsburgh Penguins. Via Bolavip, he said:
"It’s going to be cool, playing with Nate and ‘Marshy,’ obviously hometown guys. It’s been a while since Nate and I played together at the World Championships in Prague in 2015 so it’s great to have the opportunity.”
Nate MacKinnon and Brad Marchand are good friends of Crosby's. MacKinnon said he would love to play with Crosby, even if it meant moving off his usual center position to the wing. If it means playing on the line with Crosby, the Colorado Avalanche star is willing to do it.
