"Something I am not taking for granted": Johnny Gaudreau's widow Meredith grateful for fans sharing "special memories"

Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew Gaudrea's tragic passing in a road accident in August left the entire hockey community heartbroken in grief. Fans continue to show love to the player on social media and Johnny Gaudreau's widow Meredith expressed her gratitude for their constant show of love for her late husband.

On Sunday, she reposted a fan's Instagram post about Gaudreau’s sixth career hattrick on her story. In the caption, Meredith wrote:

“Of course John was so much more than hockey but these memories are so special for me to save for our kids. Our lives revolved around his hockey schedule and I miss so much being his biggest fan.”
“Really grateful I have these memories to look back on and grateful for all the fans sharing them. Opening my social media and knowing I’ll see John’s face right away is something I am not taking for granted. Thank you from the bottom of my heart,” she added.

The tragic accident involving Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau occurred on Aug. 29 when both brothers were riding their bicycles and were struck by a truck driven by 43-year-old Sean M. Higgins. Higgins admitted to drinking multiple beers before getting behind the wheel, which led to the fatal collision. He now faces serious charges, and his trial is currently underway.
