Stanley Cup champion Matthew Tkachuk meets up with Travis Kelce and issues one-word reminder for fans
Florida Panthers right wing Matthew Tkachuk won the Stanley Cup Final two weeks ago, the NHL's highest honor. Meanwhile, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce won the Super Bowl in Feb., the NFL's highest honor. The two champions met on Tuesday, and Tkachuk shared a photo of the two on Instagram.
Tkachuk captioned his post with one word, "Champs," and added the laughing and the trophy emojis. Not only did they both win this year, but both were in the Finals the year before that as well.
However, the Kansas City Chiefs have back-to-back Super Bowl wins, while the Florida Panthers only have back-to-back appearances in the Stanley Cup Final. They did hold off a historic comeback in the Final this year to win their first-ever championship.
Tkachuk has been making the rounds to celebrate his Stanley Cup Final win. Aside from Kelce, he was also seen spending time with former NBA superstar Blake Griffin and actor Chace Crawford.
Tkachuk shared another Instagram story with Roger Clemens on the golf course. Clemens is a former MLB superstar, one of the most decorated pitchers of all time and an avid golfer.
Matthew Tkachuk shouts out Jayson Tatum
Matthew Tkachuk is connected to several sports champions from the most recent seasons. He linked up with Travis Kelce, who won the Super Bowl, and gave a shoutout to Jayson Tatum, who won the NBA Finals.
The connection to Tatum is much deeper, though. These two were childhood friends and fellow athletes from a local city in St. Louis. Tkachuk congratulated Tatum (via Sports Illustrated):
“It was amazing to watch him do it, and it was amazing to follow him. We did it for St. Louis, we did it for Chaminade.”
He joked he would pick Tatum for a WWE tag-team event if the sport ever called to him. While this may seem unlikely, stranger things have happened.
