"The best": Brad Marchand's wife Katrina reacts to 19-year Bruins commentator Jack Edwards' tribute at TD Garden
Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand's wife, Katrina, paid tribute to commentator Jack Edwards. Edwards’ 19-year journey as the voice of the Boston Bruins ended with a tribute at TD Garden. On Monday, the New England Sports Network (NESN) celebrated him on Instagram with the message:
"Thank you, Jack 🖤💛 Forever a Bruin."
Katrina reacted to the post by expressing her gratitude for Edwards’ dedication to the Bruins.
"The best. we love you Jack," she wrote.
The Bruins honored Edwards with a ceremony and video tribute before Sunday’s game.
The tribute showed his unique calls and lively catchphrases. As a special gesture, the team also put up a mural in the broadcasting booth with Edwards’ phrase, “From high above the ice.”
At the ceremony, Edwards looked back on his career, expressing gratitude to the Bruins, the players, and the fans.
“I’m full of gratitude for the players, the organization, and the fans who have put the roof over my head for 19 years,” Edward said. “And it’s truly an honor to have my family’s name on the wall of the booth where I made a living in a world-class arena.”
The evening concluded with a 2-0 Bruins win over the Kraken.
Edwards announced his retirement after the 2023-24 season. In recent years, fans noticed changes in his speech. To address these worries, Edwards explained that medical tests showed no problems like stroke, cancer, or dementia. He joked, saying:
“Despite Toronto fans’ insistence, there’s nothing wrong with my brain."
Edwards' unique phrases, like “tumbling muffin” and “Chinese mustard,” became memorable parts of Bruins broadcasts. He fondly remembered when a fan brought him a jar of Chinese mustard to sign.
