"The guy with a nail in his foot": Golden Knights' Jack Eichel has unlikely casting suggestion for Happy Gilmore 2
Vegas Golden Knights forward Jack Eichel recently shared a creative idea for a potential "Happy Gilmore 2" cameo. In a video posted by NHL insider Jonny Lazarus on Wednesday for B/R Open Ice, Eichel suggested NHL veteran Pat Maroon to play "Mr. Larsen," the iconic nail-footed character from the original movie.
When Lazarus asked which NHL player he’d cast in the sequel, Eichel said:
“The guy with the nail in his foot. Somebody to play him. Who could play Mr. Larsen well?”
Eichel mentioned the possibility of Maroon playing the part. Lazarus quickly agreed, and Eichel enthusiastically endorsed the suggestion.
“Yeah, there you go. Pat Maroon is Mr. Larsen,” Eichel said.
During the casual skate interview, Jack Eichel also shared highlights of his offseason, which included a memorable trip to Italy and France. When asked about his pregame routines, Eichel admitted he sticks to repetitive habits and even joked about being the quirkiest among his teammates.
Jack Eichel, a big music fan, also named the band he’d love to see in concert.
"I'd want to see Tame Impala. Who would I want to go with? I don't know. I'd probably just say my buddies. I don't know," Eichel said.
He also spoke about the comedians he finds entertaining.
"I think Druski's pretty funny. He gets me pretty good on his Instagram. I think Theo Von's pretty funny right now," Eichel said.
Maroon, now with the Chicago Blackhawks, signed a one-year deal on July 1.
Jack Eichel's dominant performance against the Philadelphia Flyers
Jack Eichel continued his strong season in the Golden Knights’ 5-4 shootout win against the Flyers on Monday. Eichel scored a goal, recorded an assist and netted the only shootout goal. He played 23:14 minutes on the ice. His goal in the second period reduced the Flyers’ 3-0 lead to 3-1. Later, he assisted Ivan Barbashev’s goal, making it 3-2.
"Not every game is going to be a masterpiece, but you’ve got to find a way to get two points.” Eichel said per NHL, “We did that tonight. Happy to get the win."
Vegas tied the game with goals from Pavel Dorofeyev and Tanner Pearson before Eichel’s shootout heroics secured the victory. Eichel has 34 points this season, with eight goals and 26 assists. His consistent performances are helping Vegas maintain a strong record of 14-6-3.
Vegas is at the top of the Pacific Division standings with 31 points, despite their recent loss to the Colorado Avalanche.
