'The one who made me mama': Arber Xhekaj's mom Simona wishes daughter Sophia on her 25th birthday
Montreal Canadiens defenseman Arber Xhekaj’s mom, Simona, wished her daughter Sophia on her 25th birthday by sharing three special photos. The pictures highlighted Sophia’s dedication as a firefighter and her personal life.
Simona shared the pictures on X and wrote:
"Happy 25th BIRTHDAY to our adventurous young lady @SophiaXhekaj . The one who made me mama ❤️. It’s hard to believe what you have accomplished in this short 25 years. You are courageous , determine, resilient ,so brave . Always try to see good in everyone and everything. ❤️4🫵"
In the first photo, Sophia is seen fighting a wildfire, dressed in full firefighting gear and wielding a fire suppression tool, showing her bravery in dangerous situations. The second photo shows her in a post-fire scene, continuing her vital work in the field.
The third photo offers a different side of Sophia. Dressed in a green gown, she stands by a peaceful river, showing her elegance outside of her job.
Simona’s post celebrates both Sophia’s dedication to her work and her personal style. Just like her brother Arber Xhekaj, who protects his teammates on the ice, Sophia protects her community through her firefighting efforts.
Montreal Canadiens defenseman Arber Xhekaj is facing a tough time despite his fighter's attitude
Arber Xhekaj is facing a tough time with the Montreal Canadiens, having been scratched from the lineup recently. He used to be a regular player but now seems to be the seventh defenseman, especially after Jayden Struble's return from injury.
Xhekaj was scratched even when the Canadiens were playing the New York Rangers, a team known for its physicality, particularly with players like Matt Rempe. This decision was surprising, as Xhekaj is known for his tough, enforcer style of play.
During practice, Xhekaj showed his frustration, clearly unhappy about not playing. Éric Bélanger noticed and commented on how "pissed off" Xhekaj was.
"Today (Monday) during practice, we saw him, he was ''REALLY pissed off''. But why do you have to find yourself in the stands to show that kind of attitude? It was like: ''Oh, I deserve to be in the lineup." Éric Bélanger said (per Yardbarker).
Despite these setbacks, many believe that Arber Xhekaj has the mindset to bounce back. Last NHL season, he responded well after being sent to the Laval Rocket. Fans are hopeful that he’ll continue to work hard and regain his spot in the Canadiens’ lineup.
