NHL: Stanley Cup Final-Florida Panthers at Edmonton Oilers

TSN host Jesse Pollock makes bold Stanley Cup Game 5 prediction

TSN host Jesse Pollock took to X to share his perspective on this year's Stanley Cup Finals between the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers. Pollock made a bold prediction ahead of Game 5 as the Oilers seek to extend the series.

"If Edmonton goes into Florida and wins Game 5… I don’t think they’re losing another game this series," Pollock said on X.

The Oilers have secured an impressive 8-1 win over the Florida Panthers in Game 4 at Rogers Place.

Key players Dylan Holloway and Connor McDavid led the charge, with Holloway contributing two goals and an assist. Meanwhile, McDavid achieved a four-point night which consisted of a goal and three assists. This feat saw him eclipse Oilers legend Wayne Gretzky with the most assists (32) in a single postseason.

Despite their win and the record he broke, McDavid had an honest assessment of their game:

"It's just one win, that's all," McDavid said via NHL.com. "It doesn't matter if you score eight or you score one, it's just one win and we have to go to Florida and do a job and drag them back to Alberta."

The Oilers' depth was on full display that night, with contributions from Mattias Janmark, Connor Brown, Leon Draisaitl, Zach Hyman, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Evan Bouchard, and Darnell Nurse.

"I think it's one win," Hyman said via NHL.com. "It's one win closer. The mentality is the same."

Hyman added:

"I think the belief is the same, but it's nice to go do it and get a win and get a couple past this goalie to show we can do it and put a little bit of doubt on the other side. So it's a good win."

Edmonton's special teams showed out as Janmark scored a short-handed goal and Nugent-Hopkins broke their team's power-play drought.

Stuart Skinner made 32 saves to fend off the Panthers as their goalie, Sergei Bobrovsky, struggled. Bobrovsky allowed five goals on 16 shots before being pulled.

Edmonton Oilers' coach Kris Knoblauch's statement for Game 5 of Stanley Cup finals

Oilers' head coach Kris Knoblauch is expecting the Panthers to be prepared in the next game. In an interview with CTV News, he said,

"They're gonna respond, they're gonna be much more prepared for Game 5 than they were in Game 4. Obviously there's distractions … Having a sweep."
"They're going to respond, they're going to be better. I feel like we have a pretty good feel for what their team identity is and how they're going to play ... we're trying to enjoy it as much as possible," Knoblauch added.

The Oilers will look to carry this momentum into Game 5 on Tuesday at Amerant Bank Arena in Florida. If they do, there's a possibility that Pollock's prediction turns into a reality.
