Tyler Toffoli's wife Cat reacts in two words to husband's crucial game-tying goal in Sharks' comeback victory
San Jose Sharks’ Tyler Toffoli scored the game-tying goal in his team's comeback victory against Utah on Monday. Toffoli's wife Cat was quick to react to her beau's goal on her Instagram story.
Utah took an early 4-1 lead during the game but San Jose scored three goals in under two minutes in the third period, with Tyler Toffoli tying the game at 4-4. Alexander Wennberg then scored in overtime, giving the Sharks their first win of the season and marking head coach Ryan Warsofsky's first NHL victory.
Cat Toffoli took to Instagram and shared a clip of the game tying goal. In the caption, she added:
“Ty tie”, followed by a teary eyed emoji.
Cat has a background in sports broadcasting. She worked as a Reporter/Producer for Trojan’s All-Access TV and gained experience interning at FUEL TV, NBC Olympics during the 2008 Beijing Games, and CNN's "Reliable Sources."
She studied Broadcast Journalism at the University of Southern California, where she was involved in Trojans All-Access TV and Annenberg TV News. She also played NCAA Division 1 softball at George Washington University.
Cat and Tyler met in 2014 at Dodger Stadium during Kings Night while Cat was working in broadcast and entertainment for the LA Dodgers. They got married in Hawaii on June 30, 2018.
Not the first time Tyler Toffoli came clutch with a late game-tying goal
Tyler Toffoli's goal at 17:18 in the third period of the Monday night game marked the third-latest game-tying goal of his career. He scored one on November 7, 2019, with the LA Kings against the Ottawa Senators at 19:52, and another on March 17, 2021, with the Montreal Canadiens against the Winnipeg Jets at 18:35.
Meanwhile, San Jose averted an unwanted record of becoming the first NHL team with back-to-back 10-game winless streaks to start consecutive seasons.
The Sharks' rally was a comeback to remember, overcoming a three-goal deficit with three quick strikes in the last six minutes of regulation. While Alexander Wennberg stole the show with his game-winning shot, Tyler Toffoli was equally crucial on the night for the Sharks.
