Tyson Jost makes his thoughts clear about Charlie Lindgren's windmill save on him

Charlie Lindgren made an impressive windmill glove save during Friday’s game between the Washington Capitals and Carolina Hurricanes. He stopped Tyson Jost’s shot at 7:42 of the second period, denying the Hurricanes a chance to tie the game.

The save was frustrating for Tyson Jost and the Hurricanes. After the game, Jost said:

“It obviously sucks. He made a great save. I did everything I could to put it where I wanted it. He made a circus save, so tip your hat to him, I guess.”

Lindgren’s performance was even more impressive because he played the game while sick. The Capitals said Lindgren was unwell all night and threw up during the intermission. NHL writer Tom Gulitti mentioned that John Carlson didn’t give Lindgren the player of the game chain because he didn’t want to risk getting close to him.

Despite his illness, Lindgren stopped 24 of 25 shots and helped the Capitals win 3-1. Over his last four starts in December, Lindgren has stopped 97 of 103 shots. His .942 save percentage has been a big help for the Capitals. His windmill save on Jost was a key moment and his effort, despite being sick earned him respect.

Capitals' Aliaksei Protas, who scored the first goal, was asked if he had ever witnessed a save like Lindgren's windmill stop tonight.

To which he replied:

"I did something like that when I played NHL on the Xbox, yeah, but not like this. Not in real life."

The Capitals scored late in the first two periods to secure the win, but Lindgren’s play was the main story of the night.

Charlie Lindgren's impressive play helped the Washington Capitals win 3-1

The Washington Capitals beat the Carolina Hurricanes 3-1 at Capital One Arena on Friday. Aliaksei Protas scored first at 19:17 of the first period, tipping Andrew Mangiapane’s shot past Pyotr Kochetkov.

In the second period, Charlie Lindgren made his windmill glove save. Jakub Vrana added to the lead at 16:11, finishing a 3-on-2 rush with a wrist shot. Connor McMichael scored at 19:33, turning and firing a wrist shot from the slot to make it 3-0.

Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour talked about the two back-to-back goals and said:

“Those are brutal,” Brind’Amour said, per NHL.com, “...That’s not a good taste in your mouth. I guess at the end of the day that was the game. Two goals in the last minutes can’t happen.”

Seth Jarvis got the Hurricanes on the board at 10:22 of the third period, finishing a pass from Sebastian Aho. The Capitals held their ground and Lindgren’s saves sealed the win.
