Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim addresses Canucks' playoff exit; issues departing message for Edmonton counterpart
Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim addressed the Canucks' playoff exit following a 3-2 loss to the Oilers in Game 7 while also sending a message to Amarjeet Sohi, the mayor of Edmonton City.
It was a hard-fought series between the Vancouver Canucks and Edmonton Oilers which kept the fan bases of both Canadian teams at the edge of their seats until the final buzzer was blown on Monday night at Rogers Arena.
The Oilers ultimately came out on top securing a 3-2 win to eliminate the Canucks from Round 2 and advance to the Western Conference finals.
Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim took to X/Twitter to congratulate the Canucks for their valiant effort and for making the city of Vancouver proud. Sim acknowledged the team's perseverance until the end and highlighted their dedication and hard work throughout the season.
Mayor Ken Sim also mentioned Edmonton Mayor in his post, which could be seen as a gesture of sportsmanship and camaraderie between the two cities:

The Western Conference finals will be played between the Edmonton Oilers and Dallas Stars, with the Stars having the home-ice advantage. Both teams have met six times in the playoffs, including when Dallas was known as the Minnesota Stars.
When it comes to the conference final, the Stars have faced the Oilers, twice known as the Minnesota North Stars. In the 1991 Conference finals, the Stars beat the Oilers in five games, while in the 1984 finals, the Minnesota North Stars lost to the Oilers in four games.
The Dallas Stars last made it to the Stabley Cup final in 2020, where they lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning in six games. Meanwhile, the Edmonton Oilers haven't made it to the Cup final since 2006, when they were beaten by the Carolina Hurricanes in seven games.
Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim loses a bet to Edmonton Mayor
Ahead of the Round 2 series between the Canucks and Oilers, Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim challenged Edmonton Mayor Amarjeet Sohi. Mayor Sim took to X/Twitter and posted a video in which he proposed a friendly bet.
If the Canucks come out on top and win the series, Mayor Sohi will have to raise the Canucks flag high above the city hall in Edmonton. And if the tables turn and the Oilers emerge as the winners, Mayor Sim will proudly fly an Edmonton Oilers flag over Vancouver City Hall.
