There was a heated moment between the Ottawa Senators and Buffalo Sabres during their matchup on Tuesday night. Early in the first period, Sabres forward Jordan Greenway delivered a massive hit on Senators rookie Tim Stützle, flooring him near the neutral zone.

Senators captain Brady Tkachuk took exception to the hit on his teammate. Tkachuk immediately dropped his gloves and went after Greenway, initiating a fight between the two.

The scrum didn't last long before referees intervened to separate the two. Both Brady Tkachuk and Greenway landed a few punches during the brief tussle.

Watch the video here:

Brady Tkachuk was assessed minor penalties for fighting and unsportsmanlike conduct, while Greenway received only a fighting minor for his involvement.

Fans react to Brady Tkachuk fighting Jordan Greenway for his hit on Stutzle

Brady Tkachuk's decision to drop the gloves with Jordan Greenway after his hit on Tim Stützle elicited mixed reactions from fans on social media.

One fan tweeted:

"Good captain but this isnt a good example of sticking up, greenway just handles him the whole time lmaoo"

Another fan wrote:

"BTW, Ottawa is losing to Buffalo while you are praising him as a great captain."

Here are some fan reactions:

"That needs to be a penalty for delay of game on Brady. The most legal hit you'll see tonight & he's stopping play to fight... The league has delay of game rules for 100 things but not this kinda crap." one fan wrote on X.
"It’s weird he’s doing it while it’s a tie game. Usually he gets angry when they’re down3 with 37 seconds left." another fan wrote.
"One, I am sick of every body check is now followed by a fight. It's so ridiculous and pointless. Two, if I'm a Sens fan I'd rather have Brady on the ice then sitting in the box for 5 minutes." a user commented.
"Cleans hits aren’t allowed anymore because of this stuff. Why do you have to fight? If they were talented enough they’d remember the # and get them back" another user wrote.

Five minutes into the third period, the Sabres held a 4-1 lead over the Senators. Buffalo goals came from Bowen Byram (two goals), Alex Tuch and JJ Peterka, while Ottawa's lone tally came from Ridly Greig.
