The San Jose Sharks are last in the Pacific Division with 50 points and are realistically out of the playoffs race. To make it, they will have to play perfect hockey for the remainder of the season, something that has been beyond them thus far.

The next couple of games will be critical and we will see whether the Sharks are looking towards the draft and the future rather than the current campaign.

For Erik Karlsson, he will want to finish the season on a high. Losing hurts one's pride and no player wants to be at the bottom of the division.

Karlsson has done a brilliant job this campaign, scoring 19 goals and assisting 63 more in 65 appearances. He has an 11.6 shooting percentage and is currently tied third in the league for assists and sixth for his points.

Though the Sharks have struggled this season, Karlsson has been a standout player, performing admirably in their defeats.

The Sharks are scheduled to play the St. Louis Blues on Thursday, March 9, 2023.
