LA Kings defenceman Joel Edmundson had a gut-wrenching fall during the 3rd period of Kings-Lightning clash. Edmundson jumped to catch a puck, but was hip checked by Bolts' Zemgus Giregensons while he was in the air, which resulted in him flipping upside-down and his neck taking the full force of his body, as he fell onto the ice.
Joel Edmundson skated off the ice and into the Kings locker room. The broadcasters were appalled by the severity of the fall, and the impacts it could have. The crowd were heckling the referees with a loud, "Ref you suck" chant owing to the officials not calling a penalty on Girgensons despite Edmundson's scary fall on his neck.
The Kings are yet to announce his status for the remainder of the game.
